The first 3 days of “Sesam Open U”
We started with some basic research for Infra Red schematics. After visiting some Electronic sites and reading the Electuur collection of school we build a schematic from www.dieelektronikerseite.de (IR Transmitter and Receiver) it worked like a sharm.

The day after we did some reaserch to protocols. There is a RC5 protocol for this .
The RC5 Protocol works with:
2 startbits for the automatic gain control in the infrared receiver.
1 toggle bit (change everytime when a new button is pressed on the ir transmitter)
5 address bits for the systemaddress
6 instructionbits for the pressed key
This site gives a good Explanation about IR and RC5
After some days doing a lot of (useless?) things we decided to ask our teacher for some help.
He explained us about recieving with shift registers and transmitting with a parallel in/serial out shift register. Till now I was only busy with documentating this all. I’ll make a schematic as soon as possible.
Also we learned something about a “oneshot” to do a parallel laod at the transmitting shift register
See this page for the 74121 using as a Oneshot generator

Looks interesting,
I will follow this one.
Good luck
